Supporting Year 12 Students Through External Assessments

Monday, 01 Sept 2025

With STUVAC fast approaching and external assessments beginning on Monday 27 October, we are pleased to share the release of the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority’s (QCAA) 2025 External Assessment Guide for Students.

This official guide is designed to support Year 12 students and their families as they navigate this important stage of schooling. While our teachers will guide students through the subject-specific and practical details, the QCAA guide offers a broader foundation of support, including:

✅ Practical study and preparation tips
✅ Equipment checklists
✅ What to expect on exam day
✅ Wellbeing and self-care strategies

At Hills College, we recognise that exams are not only an academic milestone, but also a period that can place extra demands on a student’s wellbeing. That’s why we are especially pleased to see the emphasis within this guide on caring for mind and body. From staying active and eating well to getting plenty of rest and making time for enjoyable activities, these reminders help students maintain balance and confidence during exam season.

We encourage all of our Year 12 families to take some time to explore this resource together. A proactive and supported approach can make all the difference to student confidence and performance in the weeks ahead.
