Digital and Design Technologies

Both Digital and Design Technologies at Hills College transforms the learning experiences student undertake.
In Digital Technological learning environments, students have opportunities to learn the skills involved with coding and how to embed this into project – based outcomes.

In an increasingly technological and complex world, it is important to develop knowledge and confidence to critically analyse and creatively respond to design challenges. Knowledge, understanding and skills involved in the design, development and use of technologies are influenced by and can play a role in enriching and transforming learning outcomes. Digital Technology empowers students to be more creative, to be more connected and to remain engaged with the learning outcomes. Integrating Digital Technology as learning experiences, helps students stay engaged.

At Hills College, students also have the opportunity to develop their design skills by conceptualising algorithms as a sequence of steps for carrying out instructions, such as identifying steps in a process or controlling robotic devices.

With Design Technologies at Hills College, students become creative and responsive designers, who are encouraged to consider ethical, legal, aesthetic factors and the economic, environmental and social impacts of technological change.

Students are taught to consider the use of technologies and how this could contribute to a more sustainable future as discerning decision – makers.

Hills College learners become motivated students who are engaged in a range of learning experiences that are transferable to family and home, constructive leisure activities, community contribution and the world of work.
